The premium Italian calfskin of the handles is strong and durable enough to be used even for horse bridles, and extends all the way under the bag to support the heaviest loads. It has undergone a slow vegetable tanning process over several weeks, carried out with natural phytosolutions that transform premium cattle hides into a sturdy, soft, lustrous leather that molds to the shape of the hand and shoulder over decades of use. The durable rustproof hinge is made of solid brass and is reinforced with other high-quality hides. The sandblasted brass hardware is customized with Filson branding.
