About the designer
Lancel was founded by husband and wife Alphonse and Angèle Lancel in Paris, 1876. Its beginnings as a lifestyle collection—mainly manufacturing pipes and smoking accessories—made it a staple of Parisian style even before moving into leather goods and handbags, with hits throughout the 20th century like the Kangourou suitcase and the iconic bucket bag.
