동시대 보헤미안의 마음을 사로잡은 앤트워프(Antwerp)의 패션디자이너 드리스 반 노튼은 1986년, 앤트워프 아카데미 출신 신예 디자이너들을 선별해 구성된 “앤트워프 식스(Antwerp Six)”의 일원으로 런던의 브리티시 디자이너 쇼에 참가하면서 자신의 이름을 국제 무대에 알리게 되었다. 그의 남성복 컬렉션은 뉴욕의 바니스 백화점(Barney’s of New York), 런던의 휘슬(Whistles) 등 유명 리테일러로부터 주문을 받았고, 주문을 소화하기 위해 그는 사업을 확장하기에 이르렀다. 1986년 가을, 드리스 반 노튼은 앤트워프 갤러리 아케이드에 작은 부티크를 열고 동일한 재료들로 만든 남녀 컬렉션을 판매하기 시작하였고, 1989년에는 1831년 세워진 앤트워프의 고풍스런 건물 ‘Het Modepaleis(The Fashion Palace)’에 플래그십 스토어를 오픈 하면서 앤트워프를 대표하는 패션 디자이너로서 존재감을 확실히 굳히게 되었다.
