발렌시아가는 1895년 스페인에서 재단사인 어머니와 어부 아버지 사이에서 태어났다. 덕분에 일찍이 럭셔리 패션계에서 중요한 경험을 쌓을 수 있었는데 청소년기때부터 이미 Marchesa di Casa Torres가의 비공식적 재단사로 일하기 시작하며 스무살 때에는 왕실의 공식 재단사로서 일하기 시작했다. 그 때부터 그는 성공의 가도를 달리기 시작하여 지금까지 명성을 이어오고 있다. 발렌시아가의 옷을 입는다는 것은 스페인 문화를 간접 체험하는 것과 같다. 컬러풀한 티셔츠, 부드러운 가죽자켓, 아라빅스타일의 샌달, 엘레강스한 원숄더 블라우스... 이 모든 것들을 놓치지 말아야 할 것이다.
