And we’re off to Italy for Milan Fashion Week…


Much of the entire fashion world gathered this afternoon at the Royal Palace for lunch with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi to kick off AW16 fashion week. The importance you ask? Renzi is the first Italian Prime Minister to open Milan’s women’s wear fashion week in an effort to show the country’s support for the entire fashion industry.

Giorgio Armani, Donatella Versace, Franca Sozzani, Anne Wintour, Diego Della Valle, Tomaso Trussardi, Lavinia Biagiotti and Lapo Elkann were amongst the elite fashionably lunching. Also there was Mayer Giuliano Pisapia and the president of the Fashion Chamber, Carlo Capasa – who was the impetus of this royal luncheon.

Milan Fashion Week 2016 – What You Should Know

The six-day event will host 73 runway shows and a total of 184 collections. Several labels will hit the runway for the first time, including Diesel Black Gold, Atsushi Nakashima, Ujoh (hosted by Giorgio Armani), Lucio Vanotti, as well as a brand new wave of Italian designers, Arthur Arbesser, Vivetta and San Andres closing the shows. Street style superstars Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini have launched a collection dubbed Attico with a focus on what they’re calling “specialty couture.” Rossella Jardini, longtime creative director of Moschino, is presenting a new eponymous collection.
