“I wanted to approach it from the combination of a mind-set of someone who comes to New York in the beginning, a kid let’s say.” Raf Simons tells the press backstage at the New York Fashion Week where he debuted his Fall 2017 Menswear collection in New York for the first time, departing its usual spot at Paris Fashion Week. Quite evidently, Simons’ perspective of that freshness and innocence is instantly recognizable across his Fall 2017 Collection, particularly on one of the most favorite street styles this season– Raf Simons sweaters for men.

In terms of his approach to his work as the chief creative director of Calvin Klein, and his own premiere label, the Belgian-born fashion designer first started his career as a furniture designer for various galleries. It was when he was an intern in a design studio of Walter Van Beirendonck that Raf Simons first saw a fashion show, which was Maison Margiela’s all-white snow. The experience eventually led him to turn to fashion design.
