Launched in 2015 by Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey, RIXO London has catapulted from an indie British brand with a cult following to a London Fashion Week favorite. RIXO (the brand name comes from a combination of the cofounders’ names) counts celebrities, influencers, and top editors among its fans—in fact, Selena Gomez, Mandy Moore, and Hilary Rhoda were recently spotted in floral RIXO dresses.

According to its founders, the brand’s eye-catching, vintage-inspired aesthetic was created to inject a dose of luxe fun into a marketplace that had become obsessed with minimalism. To that end, bold colors, hand-painted patterns, and opulent embellishments have become its signature.

Rix and McCloskey’s brand ethos encourages a free-spirited approach to luxury fashion with versatile pieces that have timeless appeal. They have also expressed a desire for their designs to be worn by a diverse customer base, so they’re committed to creating fits that flatter most bodies, and they’re mindful of using high-quality fabrics while keeping prices accessible. Their sense of adventure may be best exemplified by the fact that their fall collection includes a number of white dresses and tops with pastel floral prints. Here’s how to wear them now AND layer them for cooler temps:

Add ankle boots to RIXO dresses for fall appeal

Floral dresses and strappy sandals are an easy choice for warm days, but when temperatures drop, selecting footwear (especially for a white floral dress) may become more challenging. One option is to channel your inner bohemian and pair it with western-inspired ankle boots. You’ll get extra style points if they have a metal tip at the toe, like Lola Cruz’s mid-heeled version. You can also nod to ‘90s-inspired style and rock your feminine frock with combat boots. Fendi’s platformed iteration will do the trick. And if you’re headed to a more formal event, add a bit of glitz with metallic or sparkly booties.

Beat the chill in a belted cardi

Oversized v-neck cardigans are a thing this fall, and there are so many exciting options—from Tory Burch’s cow-print calf hair and Pinko’s argyle to MSGM’s metallic cable knit and Alanui’s tiger print with fringed trim. Layer them over your favorite RIXO dresses, but instead of buttoning them, wear them open and add a belt at the waist. When making your selections, keep in mind that a chunky sweater may overpower a slim belt, so opt for a medium-width one at the least. Or think about using a complementing printed scarf or sash instead of a belt. It’ll give your look an effortless air.

There really is no wrong way to wear RIXO London; it’s designed with adventure in mind. Remember, though, that the brand’s flower prints are wildly popular among fashion insiders. Since the floral dress is this season’s hero piece, you’ll want to stock up on their highly-coveted styles before they sell out.
