Meet Jordan Basile…

Jordan lives in San Francisco with her husband but hails from the midwest. She leads a team at Google that enables millions of small and medium sized businesses succeed online, earning her a spot on Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2016. She has traveled to 5 continents in the past year, loves pizza and design projects, most recently her greenhouse wedding in Iowa.

In our second installment of our Style Guide Series, #ItalistDoesitBetter, Jordan shares her must-have Italist pieces, as well as travel tips, for the city she calls home:

San Francisco.

My style could be described as effortless and organic. I grew up alongside our family-run, ~90 year old flower shop and greenhouses, so I wear a lot of green, floral prints and casual pieces.

I got married in our greenhouse in June and the floral influence was everywhere. I wore a delicate Jenny Packham gown and we had flowers like ranunculus and thistles strewn throughout every detail.

Overall I tend to center my wardrobe around a few investment pieces from a given season, then stock up on high quality, long lasting basics to add variety.

What are your favorite go-to pieces?

My favorite go to fashion pieces are my jackets, at least since moving to San Francisco 3 years ago. The city has micro-climates, where it can be hot in one neighborhood, then feel cold and wet just a few blocks away. I always have layers on hand so having a few versatile options to choose from is key.

What trends are you seeing in your city?

Funky sneakers! Between the growing tech community and San Francisco’s insane hills, they’re everywhere.

Why do you love Italist?

I love Italist because it’s a one stop shop with all of my favorite European designers. I use Italist to spot trends and find European designers before they hit the US fashion blogs and sell out. Their prices also tend to be better than what I find at most US stores.

What Italist piece can you not live without?

My Stella McCartney backpack. It’s the perfect size for my commute to Google’s headquarters in Mountain View. It fits my laptop, charger, and all of my weekday essentials. But, not so large that it could become a Mary Poppins bag that’d be difficult to carry up hills.

What’s your favorite place to eat breakfast, lunch & dinner in your city?

soulva, #italistdoesitbetter, san francisco greek restaurant, jordan basile

Breakfast – Out the Door for the Vietnamese coffee and beignets.
Lunch – Souvla, a fantastic Greek sandwich spot from a former chef at French Laundry, except sandwiches are only $10 and can be ordered at the counter.
Dinner – Delfina. I exercise so I can eat all the Neapolitan pizza I want.

What’s your favorite design/furniture/etc. store in your city?

design within reach san francisco, #italistdoesitbetter, furniture store san francisco, jordan basile

My favorite furniture store in San Francisco is Design Within Reach. I generally fall in love with half the store then manage to recreate it within my budget using Pinterest, Etsy and finds from local stores.

I’m also moderately addicted to The Container Store and their infinite closet solutions.
